Samsung is winning so far.

I've just bought a new Samsung the LE40B550. HD picture is brilliant and you can tweak it all you want. Also good for gaming. SD needs quite a bit of tweaking to get right, but lot's of settings available online from other users.

Yes we have Harvey Norman and I will definitely be getting a extended warranty.
You can just get overwelmed with all the choices.
I think I will wait until next year, usually you have the new models out by Christmas, so you can see whats new, also be able to pick up a previous model cheap.

Grant, Samsung is best bought at Harvey Norman - is there one there? I also paid for extra warranty - got a special price on that, and am covered for the next 5 years! Besides, Samsung OWNS samsung. Good company. Good luck with search for David's recommendation. Have never seen sharp here either.

Strange I do not recall seeing Sharp TV's in shops here. I will search harder. I will Google Sharp now. Forgot I can do that on a computer. Hahaha!
I heard a lot of good reports on the Samsung. It is the after sales customer service that has not scored well.

Hi grant I recommend The Sharp Acous HD Ready
Have one myself and the picture quality is supurb.
I'd say it was just as good as the Plasma TVs
They do up to 52" but i'd go for the 48 " model or lower
Never had a problem with mine.
Also the Samsung as Palla-Jane below recommends has a great Picture also
but I decided to go for the Sharp
I bought an LG but the picture quality was awfull and I had to take it back.

Personal experience? AND lots of research beforehand! OK, here goes . . . LCD, Definitely & positively. Does NOT burn as much energy as plasma, is more suited to your home, comes with energy ratings, and first choice is SAMSUNG. WARNING! DO NOT BUY A PALSONIC. Coz they are useless and only last 3 yrs. Do you want to pay over a thousand dollars and have to replace in 3 yrs? Seriously, Grant, I did my homework on this - as you know I have purchased a samsung. LCD. LCD. NO plasma. Now, you still need to go ahead and choose for yourself. Oh, Re the invite that keeps showing in my messenger, of course I check it out. Could do that all day. Always nothing there.
