Have spent 3 days loading Windows 7.

A long time when upgrading from XP. A warning for XP users.

I have added my photos and my music, I am happy.

Lost my Messenger contacts today but got them back, somehow my layout setting changed.

I have notice this, that some minor settings sometimes change.

    Have not yet been wow’d.

Over all, Happy, still finding my way.

What is funny, after setting my desktop layout, fonts  etc there is no change.

Have come close to been wow'd, but as I said I am more than happy with the new OS.
Everything seems stable now, I am positive a operating system has a mind and needs to sort it self out in its new home after a few days. That the best analogy I can give.
    LoL

In answer to Palla-Janes invitation help, Windows Live told me this is a known problem, looks as if it is not fix yet, but I had the same problem and it did eventaully stop showing. Could be a Windows XP thing unless any Vista or Windows 7 users have had the same problem.

Grant, can you enlighten me about something? Please? Every time I sign in, there is 1 invitation showing in my messenger. When I click on, I am told there are no invitations! Has been there for over a week now. Can't get rid of the darn thing! It's driving me batty!
Happy that you are sorting out windows 7.

Glad that you have changed your mind Grant. Its a pity that Microsoft didn't make it easier for XP users to upgrade to Windows 7 as let's face it, it is those users who should be moving onto the new OS. I love Windows 7 but of course didn't have your problems cos I was using Vista before.

Since I have installed Windows 7 I have noticed a few things now working as should. Eg Stellarium ( A planetarium program). After their latest update back in February I could not get it to work at all had to use previous version, but now perfect. Also some cam views work so much smoother. I recommend any XP users now update. I am finding so many positives.

Hi Grant - yep I have a windows XP. And I am pretyy sure I am using explorer 7. Thing is, having just purchased a new HD LCD 32" TV (with matching dvd/vcr player) There is no way I could afford to pay to have windows 7 done for me! Not to mention, I am NOT anywhere near civilization! I truely hope you get it all done, and that you will be able to use the movie maker.
I have already been told I can plug my puter to my TV. HAHA, that isn't funny. I don't mind wrecking my puter, but my new TV? Nah.
Take care. Luv to the girls!

Hello Palla-Jane, have you XP or Vista.
Actually everything went smoothly, it is just time consuming and boring.
I believe with Vista it is easy all your settings and file are saved, unlike XP where you have to save and add after-wards.
If unsure inquire at a computer store, who should be able to do it for you.
I think I would be safe to say if you have XP and you do not do it now it will get harder in the future and you be left behind with all the extras that you may be able to do.
Actually for me there is not much change between using XP and 7 for your day to day web exploring etc as I had been using explorer 8 for sometime now.
What I am looking forward to, is using Movie Maker (hope I wont be disappointed) for the old XP one and software that came with my Vid Cam is useless.
Also to watch from computer straight to the TV should be good as soon as I get a new TV hahahaha

Dear heaven Grant, do I HAVE to download this thing?!! Can you imagine? I am not going to download. Seems everyone is having probs doing so. And if I did download, I am certain I would not be able to use my puter ever again!! LOL.
